COBALT CANCER UNIT
PLANS FOR BUILDING PRODUCED Plans had been produced for the building to house the cobalt high energy unit for the treatment of cancer by radio-activity, which is to be installed af the Christchurch Hospital, said Dr. A. J. Campbell, “but so far it is still in the future. They haven’t yet turned the first sod for the building.” He was speaking at the annual general meeting yesterday of the Canterbury, Marlborough. Nelson and Westland division of the New Zealand branch of the British Empire Cancer Campaign Society. “Next week we are going to talk about fittings for the buildings," he said. “I thought they would have pulled down a few of the old shacks and begun to dig a bit in the ground.” New offices for those who had premises on the site of the unit’s building had been built, he was informed.
