MONEY FOR TICKET FOUND ON SHOP FLOOR (New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN, June 8. , A half-crown found by four persons on the floor of a Cromwell shop was used to buy a ticket in the “It’s a Whopper” art union. The ticket won first prize of £5OOO. The successful syndicate comprises Mr and Mrs J. Mansor, Mr H. Ti/fty, and Mrs W. Grant. / ~ , Mr Mansor is the proprietor Of a drapery shop in Cromwell, and Mrs Grant works in the shop. Mr Tutty, who is a returned soldier of the Second World War, and a pensioner, is a friend of the Mansers. Mrs Mansor found the money in the shop recently, and after waiting some time to see whether it was claimed, she gave it to Mr Tutty to buy a ticket in the art union. Mr R. J. Massey, who sold the ticket, himself took two tickets which were each four off the winning number.
Mr Mansor, who is a steward of the Cromwell Jockey Club, owns a fairly successful hurdler, Export. Mrs Grant arrived in New Zealand about two years ago from Scotland.
