Trooping The Colour Not To Be Held

(Rec. 8 p.m.) LONDON, June 6. The traditional ceremony of Trooping the Colour to mark the Queen’s official birthday will not be held this year because of the rail strike, the War Office announced tonight. The ceremony was scheduled for June 9. The War Office also announced that the Royal opening of the new Parliament on June 9 would lack its traditional pomp and colour “if the rail strike continues.” *
