Britain's grave industrial situation faces rapid deterioration -within the next 48 hours with other powerful unions threatening action in support of the striking railway footplatemen . As Sir Anthony Eden last night broadcast a warning that , continuation of the strikes by 70,000 footplatemen and ■>o,ooo dockers would smash Britain’s prosperitv, three unions j e re considering action which would help the strikers. The “Daily Telegraph” said that those considering help for the strikers were: — The 120,000 South Wales miners who will ballot tomorrow on whether to load coal for road transit which is usually carried by rail. He Glasgow dockers who yesterday declared black a consignment of iron ore for Colvilles big Scottish steel group. The Amalgamated Engineering Union members at Derby and Crewe workshops who are refusing to service locomotives which have been running during the strike.
