TRAP SHOOTING
CANTERBURY TITLES DECIDED CHRISTCHURCH MAN WINS SINGLE RISE (New Zealand, Press Association) TIMARU, June 6. One of 12 competitors to shoot the possible of 25, W. R. Counsel!, of Christchurch, had to break a further 28 birds before winning the Canterbury single rise championship on the Timaru Gun Club's range at Levels airport today. The runner-up was D. Campbell, of Balclutha. In the double rise championship, the New Zealand champion, B. G. Begg, of Kirwee. was well ahead of the rest of the field, winning the event with 19 birds out of a possible 20. F. G. Lewis, of Timaru. was runner-up after breaking 16 birds in a shoot-off with D. Harrison (Methven) and H. C. Walker Foxburn).
NORTH ISLAND TITLES ROTORUA, June 6. D. Hudsteth, of Kaikohe. won the North Island single-rise clay-bird championship, held today. Of the 74 competitors 10 shot the possible 25. In the shoot-off, Hudsteth beat R. Baker (Katikati) on the thirteenth bird. Ezra Green (Matamata) and H. Mitchell (Kaipaki) both broke 18 of 20 birds in the North Island (tout* *3 rise clay bird championship vesterday. In the shoot-off, Green took ths title with the second ibird.
