Considerable interest will be taken in the performance of the Southland paeer, General Sandy, in the B. A. Armstrong Memorial Handicap on the first day of the Wellington Trotting Club’s winter meeting at Hutt Park on Saturday. The Sandydale stallion has .won three races this season and, according to southern critics, he is one of the most promising pacers produced in that part of the country this season. He has not raced since he won at Wyndham in March, but he is reported to have trained on well. If at his best, he should go -close to winning on Saturday, and he is assured of strong off-course support
