MEMBERSHIP OF HERITAGE

SUCCESS OF APPEAL IN CANTERBURY

An appeal conducted in the last few weeks to increase the membership of the Canterbury branch of Heritage has produced 810 new members—almost as many as there were before the appeal began—and sixpence short of £5OOO in subscriptions. ' The membership has been increased from 814 to 1624, and only 190 more are needed for the organisers to reach their goal of 1000 new members. One of the committee of businessmen who are the appeal, said yesterday that the last lap had been reached. Some letters inviting membership had only just gone out, and there were still some more to be sent.

The committee was quite confident that the objective of 1000 new members would be reached, said the spokesman.
