SECOND DAY OF GAME WITH OXFORD

(N.Z. Press Association— Copyright) LONDON, May 26. The South African cricketers were well placed for victory at the end °f the second day’s play against Oxford University to At y the close Oxford still needed 190 runs, with only five second innings wickets in hand, to avoid an innings defeat. Some lively bowling by Peter Heine, the Springbok 6ft 4in fast bowler, who took five for 31, helped to dismiss the University side before lunch for 90 runs, and it was forced to follow on 344 runs behind. Oxford fared a little better in its second knock, although wickets fell regularly. At stumps Oxford was 154 for the loss of five wickets. Heine often beat the batsmen by sheer pace.

Felix was dropped twice. Ten no-balls were called against the Australian
