MECHANICAL ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIP.—To encourage fundamental research in mechanical engineering, particularly that which may have application in New Zealand, a scholarship of £300 a year for five years has been given to the School of Engineering at Canterbury University College by Todd Motors, Ltd., Wellington. This group at the presentation yesterday comprises, from left: The chairman of the Professorial Board (Professor E. Percival), the governing director of Todd Motors (Sir John Hott), the college registrar (Mr J. Logie), the first winner (Mr W. I. Axford), and the professor of mechaanical engineering (Professor R. J. Rastrick).
