N.Z. GRADUATES IN SCIENCE
MOST IN GOVERNMENT EMPLOYMENT Tie Department of Scientific and Industrial Research is the chief emgoyer of science graduates of the University of New Zealand according to a bulletin the department has just issued in which an attempt is made to analyse the academic records and ttbsequent performance of 1975 men ahd women w,ho enrolled between 1930 and 1947 and graduated by the end of 1950. _ The Department of Scientific and Industrial Research employed 218, miscellaneous Government departments 204, school teaching took 213, University teaching 114, and the Department of Agriculture 61. New Zeatoa industry accounted for 146 and other non-government ' agencies 190. 1146 of the total in New •f Through passport and permit records another 279 are presumed to be overtoas and others are classified as still y the university,. married, or in nnknown employment. ■ Of 755 masters of science, 167 are Presumed to be overseas, 139 in the P-S.LR., 103 in university teaching, 71 to industry, and 70 in school teaching. kJ? remaini ng graduates with the Bachelor of science degree 203 were to miscellaeneous non-government service, 179 in miscellaenous government departments, 174 in school teaching, 160 presumed overseas, 108 to the D.5.1.R.. 90 in industry, 48 in “ e Department of Agriculture and to in university teaching.
