MARCH BY SAILORS FROM CARRIER

STREET DISPLAY' AT LYTTELTON

A display march was given by 300 sailors and the band of the aircraftcarrier Sydney yesterday morning at Lyttelton. The march was ’made ini response to a request by the Mayor of Lyttelton (Mr F. G. Briggs). The route chosen took the sailors past the council chambers, on the steps of which were Mr Briggs, the town clerk (Mr J. Thompson), and the chairman of the Lyttelton Harbour Board (Mr F. E. Sutton'

Children from tb Lyttelton Main School lined the kerb in Oxford street and cheered the sailors as they marched past.
