TERRORISTS IN ALGERIA
More French Troops PARIS, May 26. The French Minister of the Interior, Mr Maurice Bourges-Maunory will fly down to Algeria this morning primed with last-minute Cabinet instructions on the latest effort to stamp out terrorism in Algeria. French police and troop reinforcements are pouring irtto Algeria to begin a military offensive against the well-armed and well-disciplined terrorists operating in large areas of Algeria Fourteen infantry division units from Tunisia were among the first reserve forces to move into the mountainous heart of the rebel country. Terrorist activity continued unabated in the Aures Mountains last night. Three villages and a soldier were killed in. a hit-and-run attack upon the Beni-Imloul village, the AlgiersTunis railway line was set on fire and communications were cut.
Sabotage also continued south of Algiers, where more than one hundred lines were torn up.
In Algiers the police seized today’s issue of the French Communist Party newspaper “Humanite,” but gave no reason.
The newspaper had attacked the anti-bandit measures, and claimed that 17 peasants were summarily executed in an Aures village.
