TAI TAPU GARDEN CLUB

The annual meeting of the Tai Tapu Garden Club was held at the home of Mrs H. L. Jennings, of Lincoln. Mrs J. Fecken presided.

The election of officers resulted as follows:—president, Mrs H. A. Kennedy; vice-president, Mesdames Hauschild and Ryan; secretary, Mrs L. Cutler; committee, Mesdames Barwick, Powell, Schaffer, Jennings, I and L. Dulieu and the officers; competitions secretary, Mrs Hauschild; sales table secretary, Miss A. Watson; club reporter, Mrs L. Dulieu.

The president welcomed Mrs Gale, of Christchurch, who used evergreens, seed-pods, berries and ornamental apples in arranging winter decorations. She also demonstrated the making of a dried arrangement in driftwood. Competition winners were as follows:—Mrs Hauschild’s trophy: Mrs Powell. Cup for most points: Mrs Fiecken; runner-up, Mrs Kennedy. Competitions resulted:—-jug of chrysanthemums: Mrs Kennedy 1, Mrs Powell 2, Mrs Payne and Miss Stone (equal) 3. Best bloom: Mrs Kennedy 1, Mrs Ryan 2, Mrs Powell 3. SHEFFIELD CLUB Mrs H. O. Judd presided at the annual meeting of the Sheffield Garden Club. The following officers were elected: patron, Mr D. Deans; patroness, Mrs L. T. Wright; president, Mrs T. L. Jenkins; vice-presidents, Mesdames A. Deans and Mrs R. M. D. Johnson; jointsecretaries, Mrs R. C. Townshend and Mrs W. O. Judd; treasurer, Mrs G. Johnston; librarian, Mrs B. Jenkins; committee, Mesdames W. H. Faulkner, R. M. Baxter, H. O. Judd, T. G. Innes, G. Sutherland, Mr O. Clark and Mr Stufkens. Competitionsresulted as follows: decorative, vase of autumn tints: open class, Mrs H. O. Judd 1; novice class, Mrs T. L. Jenkins 1, Mrs Greening 2, Mrs H. White 3. Tray of vegetables (not more than six varieties): Mrs C. Greening 1, Mrs L. Jenkins 2, Mrs H. White 3. Trophies won throughout the year were presented as follows:—most points in all sections: Mrs G. Johnston 1, Mrs H. O. Judd 2, Mrs E. Eaves 3. Most points in decorative section: Mrs R. M. Baxter 1, Mrs Judd 2, Mrs Eaves 3. Most points in cut flower section: Mesdames Johnston and Eaves (equal) 1, Mrs Judd 3, Mrs Greening 4. Most points in vegetable section: Mr Stufkens 1, Mrs Johnston 2, Mrs L. Jenkins 3. Most points in novice section: Mrs T. L. Jenkins 1, Mrs Hoglund 2, Mrs White 3.
