Mounting Wave Of Terrorism (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 12.10 a.m.) CASABLANCA, May 24. New security measures are being taken to combat the mounting wave of terrorism which cost 26 lives in a week in Casablanca. The measures were discussed at a secret meeting of French military and political chiefs called in Casablanca by the Governor-General of Morocco, Mr Francis Lacoste, but no details have yet been released. Three Moroccans were killed and two wounded by terrorist attacks last night. One Moroccan was seriously wounded when he failed to answer a police patrol challenge. Another Moroccan nearby was killed by police gunfire. In Rabat, Moslem shops are staying open for the feast of Aid es Seghir when they would normally shut. The nationalists who generally order the closing of shops told the shopkeepers to stay open as a sign of mourning. In Algeria the police reported finding the bodies of 20 of a band of 60 guerrillas who had attacked a military post at Kheirane. They had been pursued by planes after calling off an attack in which three other rebels were killed. Six French paratroopers taken prisoner by the rebels on February 16 last have escaped and reported to a French base» on the frontier between Algeria and Tunis.
