EXERCISES AT BURNHAM
TERRITORIAL OFFICERS’ COURSE
Sixty-six officers of South Island Territorial Army units will assemble at Burnham next Saturday for their annual exercise. A team of senior officers from the Army School will conduct the exercises. The defence phase of war, including a brief treatment of atomic weapons, will form the basis of the week-end.
Officers who will attend as observers include Brigadier C. E. Weir, of Army Headquarters; Brigadier L. W. Thornton, Of Army Headquarters; Colonel G. P. Cade, senior regimental officer at Divisional Headquarters, Linton; Lieu-tenant-Colonel W. R. K. Morrison, director of infantry and training at Army Headquarters. The exercises will be conducted by Brigadier H. H. Parata.
Lessons learned by the officers on this exercise will be applied when they come to command their own territorial regiments during the coming camp season at the Balmoral training camp.
