ANOTHER WIN FOR SCOTCH PAREE

TAHUNA HANDICAP AT FORBURY PARK Scotch Paree added to her fine record for consistency whefi she gained a very easy win in the Tahuna Handicap at Forbury Park on Saturday. The U. Scott mare was a little slow early, and in the middle stages of the race she was well out of her ground. Jimmy Pride went away to a big lead, and at the mile post he was five lengths m front of Jocoly, with 15 lengths to Honora's Last. Scotch Paree was seven places further back. Jocoly closed on Jimmy Pride in the back straight with three furlongs to run, but Jimmy Pride went away again to lead Scotch Paree, which had moved up smartly, by five lengths at the straight entrance. Jocoly was right up next, ahead of Honora’s Last, Kowhai, Fogbound, and Quite Contrary, which broke. With just ?7 er iurlones to run, Vierosa and Marshall Foi collided, Vierosa being pulled Triple Crowns Stays On Triple Crown, which was a surprise 3-4 favourite, raced to the front with five furlongs to run in the Pacific Handicap, and he stayed on too well for the others. Nil Desperandum, Silver Wood, Tiki Napu, and Worthy Globe made mistakes at the start. HORSES WITHDRAWN AT DUNEDIN FORBURY CPMMItTEE’S ERROR When the Forbury Park Trotting Club committee balloted three horses out of the Winter Handicap at acceptance time for the second day of its winter meeting held on Saturday, it left 16 horses on the front mark. This was three over the safety number ' for the course at the mile and five furlong starting point. Under the Rule of Trotting the club could not allow more than 13 horses to start from the front mark on Saturday. Toronto Boy was withdrawn before the meeting started, and the committee then had to reduce the field by two. According to a statement from the chief stipendiary steward (Mr F. J. Beer) the connexions of Cardena and Eskimo were approached and they agreed to withdraw their horses. . The club refunded nomination and acceptance fees an dreimbursed the connexions of the two horses for any other expenses involved in taking their horses to the meeting. The club had also left one over the safety number in the Pacific Handicap later in the day, but there were three scratchings on the day.
