YACHTING MOFFAT CUP CONTEST

WELLINGTON FIXTURE NEXT FEBRUARY (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 20. The National Idle-Along 9 yacht championship for the Moffat Cup will be held in Wellington on February 27 next year. The Wellington Provincial Yacht and Motor-boat Association decided this last evening. The contest, which is competed for by up to 30 yachts, each with a crew of three, from all parts of New Zealand, will be held by the Evans Bay Yacht Club, the holders of the cup. Fifteen entries in the Sanders Cup design competition were received last evening by the association. Final selection of the new design will be made in Wellington on June 25 by representatives of the provinces which compete annually. The new design will standardise boats for future Sanders Cup competitions. It was reported at the meeting that on present indications the new design would be faster, one-third lighter, with smaller sails and a more stream-lined hull than the previous Sanders Cup class. A crew of three instead of four will sail the new type, which can, if needed, be mass produced.
