FAITH AND ORDER

Sir,—All right-minded people who heard the opening of the Faith and Order Conference from the Cathedral last night should pray with the delegates this week that, in seeking unity, they may stand fast in the liberty where in Christ has set us free from the world’s yokes; that the churches in our country will be free and freed from the bonds of political factions and prejudices to counter “the threat to civil liberties in New Zealand.” There is more hope of this within the church than anywhere else. As long as extreme political prejudices are evident within a community we shall have ‘‘unpopular individuals” who do not conform and hear the cry anew, “Oh! Liberty, what crimes are committed in thy name!”—Ydurs, etc., CHRISTIAN LIBERTY. May 12, 1955.
