MISSING MOTOR-CYCLE FOUND UNDER SAND

A motor-cycle taken from Cathedral square about 10.30 p.m. on Saturday was recovered on Sunday morning from the beach at New Brighton. A man digging for pipis a short distance south of the pier and well below the high tide line discovered the end of the handlebar. He called the police, who dug the machine from the sand.

The police believe it was left on the beach, becoming covered in sand with the coming and going of the tide. When the man discovered it, it was only a short time before the tide would have reached the same place again.
