APPEAL FOR HOMELESS CHILDREN An urgent appeal for money and goods, preferably money, to assist at least 16,000 children left without homes by an earthquake in Greece has been made by the secretary of the Save the Children Fund in Christchurch (Miss M. G. Havelaar). Yesterday afternoon Miss Havelaar received the following cable message from the general secretary at the fund’s headquarters in London: “Earthquake in Greece. Approximately 16,000 children homeless in Volos alone. Figures in villages not yet estimated. Considerable catastrophe far surpasses lonian earthquake. Please send everything possible. All supplies being diverted Greece, but must restock urgently to keep other countries supplied. Any help you can send will be welcome and useful.’’ “This is a terrible catastrophe,” said Miss Havelaar. "Wefare responsible for 200 children in Greece already. We
