RESTRICTIONS ON POWER

HEATHCOTE AND SPRINGSELLESMERE

Restrictions on the use of electricity have been announced by the Heathcote County Council. Water heaters and radiators are not to be used between 10 d.tn. and 6 pm. Out- ! side lighting is pfqhibited except by permission of the council. The council appeals to consumers to reduce their use of power in any other way possible. The Springs-Ellesmere Electric 1 Power Board announces that, as its power allocation is being exceeded, consumers are requested to save units whenever possible and to observe the following restrictions:— All uncontrolled water-heaters are to be switched off for at least four hours daily and radiators are to be used only when absolutely necessary; electric advertising signs may be used between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.. .only and shop window lighting may be used only when the shop is open; lighting for indoor and outdoor sports is to be reduced by 25 per cent. The board hopes that with the full co-operation of consumers, further restrictions will be avoided.
