HOME RULE FOR TUNISIA
Agreement Reached With France (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 10 p.m.) PARIS, April 22. French and Tunisian delegates early today signed a protocol agreement on the main points of conventions to give effect to home rule for Tunisia. The negotiations ended half an hour after midnight. The Tunisian Premier (Tahar Ben Amar), leader of his country’s delegation, had postponed his return to Tunisia until today, the eve of the month-long Moslem feast of Ramadan, to give negotiators an extra day to reach a settlement. A joint statement after the meeting said the delegations agreed on seven conventions, one covering general matters, and the others French services in Tunisia, public order, the personal status of citizens, judicial matters, administration, and economic affairs.
