PUBLICITY FOR SOUTH ISLAND
ADVERTISING DRIVE IN AUSTRALIA PROMOTION OF TOURISM BY T.E.A.L. South Island scenic attractions take an important place in the latest publicity campaign started by Tasman Empire Airways in Australia. About 50,000 copies of a new colour folder devoted entirely to the South Island will be printed; and the Island receives generous mention in the general folder«produced on New Zealand by the airline. Advertising of New Zealand in Australia by T.E.A.L. is more intensive than ever before. The latest drive for tourists is a sequel to a combined publicity campaign by the Government, T.E.A.L., and other travel interests in this country. Beginning this month, Australians will see large black and white advertisements in their national newspapers, as well as full-page colour advertisemnets in magazines, screen slides, and radio advertisements. Outdoor forms of advertisement have also been remembered.
All through these, illustrations of the scenic beauties of the South Island had received a prominent place, an officer of T.E.A.L. said yesterday. Arrangements had also been made for posters and counter and window displays in large stores. Within the next few weeks, a new T.E.A.L. colour film will be released to Australian circuits. In it more than 10 minutes has been devoted to South Island scenery. Travel salesmen in Australia have also been equipped with sets of New Zealand colour slides to illustrate lectures to smaller groups.
