Limit Bags far Salman
He had never seen so many rods out
on the Rakaia rjver as there had been this year, and yet many fishermen had not caught one fish, said Mr W. L. Donald, when commenting on a report on salmon netting at last evenings meeting of the North Canterbury Acclimatisation Society council, There had been others, however, who had caught many fish. He knew of two men who caught 100 fish in a week, said Mr Donald. “Every salmon fisherman knows that when fishing upstream there are only certain key-' points in holes where fish can be caught. I do not think it is right that some chaps get to these points and fish them ail day to get their limit bag, when other fishermen not at * these points do not catch a fish. I !ike to see the salmon bag limit three fish, and that is plenty for any man to take borne. He can then go back the next day and take another three if he wants to." said Mr Donald. No action was taken, although there was a chorus- of “hear hears’ during Mr Donald s comments.
