ACCIDENTS

TRUCK OVERTURNS ON DYERS PASS The driver of a truck on Dyers Pass road yesterday was apparently thrown clear as his vehicle left the road at a bend and rolled over two or three times down a bank. He is Mr Cecil Leonard Giddens, of Alandale. Mr Giddens was taken to the Christchurch Public Hospital with hip injuries; his condition last evening was reported to be satisfactory. It is believed that the steering of the truck locked at the bend about half a mile below the Sign of the Kiwi. The truck was badly damaged when it came to rest on its wheels ir an area of ferns. It was not loaded. TRUCK AND BICYCLE IN COLLISION A cyclist, Mr Peter Croft, of 20 Kinsey terrace, Sumner, was injured in a collision with a truck at the corner of Ferry road and Nursery road last evening. Mr Croft was taken by St. John Ambulance to the Christchurch Public Hospital at 7.10 p.m., where his condition last evening was reported to be satisfactory. CYCLIST INJURED Mr Percy Alabone, of 422 Barbadoes street, was taken to the Christchurch Public Hospital at 5 p.m. yesterday with injuries suffered when he was knocked from his bicycle by a car at the corner of Fitzgerald avenue and Kilmore street.
