FURTHER DECREASE IN WATER STORAGE

„ Water storage for the South Island power system yesterday was more than 20,000,000 units below the reading for April 13 last year, and the poor prospects for the coming winter are made more apparent when it is recalled that last year there were many weeks of restrictions and cuts, going through to the spring.

The storage yesterday morning was 165,080.000 units, compared with 186,910,000 units a year earlier. Yesterday’s reading showed a decrease of about 1.250,000 units in the previous 24 hours, and it was nearly 2,000.000 units below the total on Wednesday last week:
