FIRE DESTROYS HOTEL KITCHEN BLOCK
(New Zealand Press Association) TAURANGA, April 13. A fire shortly before 5 a.m. today burned out the kitchen block and adjoining amenities in the Star Hotel Tauranga.
The fire was brought under control within half an hour. By this time everything in the kitchen—stoves, crockery, cutlery, and silverware—was ruined and the kitchen itself was destroyed. Guests were given breakfast and lunch at a nearby restaurant.
