FINE AND PROBATION FOR ASSAULT
OFFENCE AGAINST CHM ADMITTED (From Our Own Reporter) GREYMOUTH, April 13. Pleading guilty to a charge of assault in the Hokitika Magistrate l Court,, Ralph Albert Tyler, aged «• married, of Christchurch, was fined £2O and placed on probation for two years by Messrs R. Patterson and H. A. Thompson, Justices of the Peace. Special conditions of Tyler’s probation term were that he take out a pm* hibition order and refrain from frequenting parks and other places where children assembled. Prompt action on the part of two men in reporting to the police the suspicious behaviour of the accused towards a seven-year-old girl was commended by the Court. , Sergeant L. Blake, who prosecute* said that Tyler had been visiting Grejmouth at Easter and had gone to Hokitika for the day on Saturday. When two constables arrived in Cass square they found accused in the conveniences with the child. No harm had come to the child. “This type of offence, and others more serious, are hard to detect,” Sergeant Blake. Accused had cen* sumed liquor, but was not intoxicates
