Eden Sworn In At Windsor

LONDON, April 12. Sir Anthony Eden was formally sworn in at Windsor Castle today, as head of the British Government at a meeting of the Privy Council. The Queen watched as Sir Anthony Eden was installed as First Lord of the Treasury—the official portfolio which authorises the payment of his £lO,OOO a year salary. The title of Prime Minister carries no payment. Earlier. Sir Anthony Eden returned to No. 10 Downing street after country week-end talks with top Conservative leaders on when he should call a General Election. The new Prime Minister, accompanied by Lady Eden, drove to his residence this morning to take over his official rooms for the first time.
