MAGISTRATE’S COURT
TUESDAY (Before Mr Raymond Ferner, S.M.) SHIP DESERTER Raymond Taylor, aged 20, a ship’s steward, pleaded guilty to deserting from the Briitsh ship Antrim ,at Timaru on April 4. He was convicted and ordered to be imprisoned for one month and then be deported. Sub-Inspector J. C. Fletcher said the Antrim had now left New Zealand waters. ADJOURNED FOR SENTENCE Allan Clive Sim, aged 25, a test operator appeared for sentence on a charge of unlawfully converting a bicycle but the case was further adjourned to April 14 for Sim to be dealt with by the Magistrate who originally heard the case. REMANDED John Stanley Pinnell aged 26, was remanded to April 18 on a charge that he escaped from Paparua Prison on March 17 wb-’le he was serving a sentence of two years’ imprisonment.
