FLORAL CLOCK

FORMAL PRESENTATION TO CHRISTCHURCH The floral clock in Victoria street was formally handed over to the city of Christchurch this week by Mr W. Calder Mackay, managing director of the company that gave the clock. Before a small group of city councillors, council employees, representatives of the Christchurch Beautifying Association, and the public, Mr Calder Mackay thanked the Mayor (Mr R. M. Macfarlane, M.P.) and the chairman of the reserves committee (Miss M. B. Howard, MJ».) for the enthusiasm they had shown for the project. Whenever Christchurch was mentioned, people visualised the wonderful parks and gardens of the city, and he hoped that, in the future, the clock would help that beauty and record happy days and years of peace.
