WOOL SALE AT WELLINGTON

PRICES AT NAPIER MAINTAINED 64D PAID FOR MEDIUM CROSSBRED LAMB (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 6. • *i. Ces the third Wellington wool sale season today were on a par with those at the Napier sale last week, says f ial report issued jointly by the Wellington Woolbrokers’ Association, the New Zealand Woolbuyers’ Association, ¥ e . w Zealand Wool Commission. The catalogue of 29,864 bales comprised mainly greasy crossbred wool drawn from eB parts of the Wellington province, to,wlth a few lines from Blenheim and Nelson, says the report. “The offering, for an April sale, was quite a good one, there being on offer some wellgrown lots of fleece wool, but unfortunately because of the later shearing, some clips were more cotted and yellow than those offered in the earlier sales. There was quite a large offering of super, good, and average Romney lambs, and these opened up very attractively indeed, and received the competition at auction which their get-up merited. “Because of drought, Down cross lambs have been forwarded to the works earlier than usual, and there was not the quantity of Down cross lambs’ wool on offer, and most of the lines submitted were fairly dusty, and not so attractive as Usual. “There was the usual very full bench of buyers, representative of all woolconsuming countries, and prices can be quoted for all fleece and oddments as on a par with the preceding Napier sale. “Romney . lambs were irregular and sometimes hi buyers’ favour, and Southdown cross lambs were not very keenly sought ”
