MEASURING OF FLOW IN HURUNUI
(From Our Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, April 6. To gain information on the possibility of harnessing the hydro-electric power potential of the Hurunui river the general manager of the State Hydro-electric Department (Mr A. E. Davenport) has asked the Ministry of Works to place gauges in the river to register the flow. When a deputation from the Canterbury Progress League met the Minister in charge of the State Hydroelectric Department (Mr W. S. Goosman) on March 29, and urged that consideration be given to the development of North Canterbury rivers, he promised that an investigation would be carried out in due course.
