Nationalists Fear Air Attack (H-Z, Prtgs Association—Copyright) (Rec. 1030 p.m.) TAIPEH (Formosa), April 3. Chinese Nationalist sources are predicting a crucial air battle for Formosa in about three months’ time.
They are comparing it with Britain’s 1940 battle against **• a " d fl*®? My >* will be just as important for the Nationalists' leader, Marshal Chiang Kai-shek. ..T he y My ti? at the Formosa Straits are about the same width as the British Channel and the result of the fight will establish air supremacy over these waters.
Nationalist military planners think the battle is likely to be precipitated If the Communists go on with their threat to Marshal Chiang’s seven-island Matsu group, off the Chinese port of Foochow.
.. The Nationalists still assert they will defend these rocky islands at any cost. •
