STATE FLATS IN RICCARTON

TENDERS CALLED FOR THREE BLOCKS EACH BUILDING TO HAVE EIGHTEEN UNITS Tenders have been called by file Ministry of Works for the building of three blocks of Government flats in Riccarton. Each block will be of three Storeys and contain 18 flats. They will be built on the south side of Ricearton road on the city side of Ham road. Of concrete construction, each block will have a ground floor space of 3800 square feet, and each block will have Us Own laundry block. The buildings will be gas heated’--throughout. The flats will be of the same type as State flats in Wellington. Each block will contain three types of flat "two types have two bedrooms and the other a bed-sittingroom. All are self-contained, with bathrooms and kitchenette recesses off the livingrooms. They will be built of asbestos cement panels, with corrugated asbestos roofing and the floors and party walls will be of reinforced concrete.

The laundry block serving a building will have four washing machines and sets of tubs, and each of the 18 flats In the building will have an individual lock-up shed in the laundry
