BEACH CLEANING

Sir, —Readers will have seen in press reports that last Saturday Boy Scouts of Kowhai District (Aranui, South Brighton, New Brighton and North Beach), assisted by some residents, gathered some tons of broken bottles from the sandhills north of the Walmairi Surf Club building. Recently the lupin and marram grass was burnt oft this area, revealing this broken glass danger. My committee wish to thank “The Press,” the “Star-Sun,” Miss Airini Grennell. or 3YA, and Mr Stannage, of 3ZB, for publicity they have given to organising this “emu parade,” and to thank also the Waimairi Surf Club for providing the scouts and other helpers with light refreshments.—Yours, etc., J. A. SANDLE, Hon. Secretary, District Scout Committee. April 4, 1955.
