MOTOR ACCIDENTS ON SATURDAY
TEN INJURED TAKEN TO HOSPITAL Nine persons injured in motor accidents in or near Christchurch were taken to the Christchurch Public Hospital for treatment within little more than eight hours on Saturday evening. Of these, five persons were admitted and one accident proved fatal. The rest were sent home after treatment; the condition of the four persons still in hospital was reported to be satisfactory last evening. The first accident case on Saturday was admitted at 9.15 a.m. after the collision of two cars at the corner of Smith street and Ferry road. Between 4.10 p.m. and 12.30 a.m. on Sunday, nine more cases arrived at the hospital: 4.10 p.m.: a ifyclist whose leg was broken in a collision with a car at the corner of Champion street and Bealey avenue. 6.10 p.m.: a motorist hurt when two cars collided at the intersection of Bealey avenue and Fitzgerald avenue. 6-30 ,P-m.: a motor-cyclist injured in a collision at the corner of Croydon street and King street. . LlO p.m.: a motor-cyclist found injured by his machine on Evans Pass road. He died later. 950 p.m.: two men involved in a collision between two cars in Cranford street near Edgeware road. 10.45 p.m.: two men with head injuries received when their car overturned at Waikuku. 12.30 a.m.: with cuts about the face, I he Passenger of a car involved in a collision at the corner of Gloucester street and Barbadoes street.
CAR OVERTURNS AT WAIKUKU
, wo , occupants of a car which overturned in loose shingle at Waikuku on Saturday evening were admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital head injuries. They are Mr G. v • Dickenson, of 54 Wainui street, and Mr C. Moore, of Waikuku. The condition of both men was reported to be satisfactory last evening. CYCLIST’S LEG BROKEN A cyclist, James Tansey, was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital with a broken leg at 4.10 p.m. on .Saturday, after he had been in a collision with a motor-car at the corner of Champion street and Bealey avenue. His condition was reported to be satisfactory last evening.
