Situation.— a cold front is moving north-eastwards towards the South Island. Forecast:— Canterbury, Marlborough, and Nel•on.—Light to moderate variable winds; fine weather at first, but a aontherly or south-westerly change, with a few brief showers, developing in Canterbury during the afternoon, and in Marlborough in the evening; temperatures becoming cold again, with southerlies, but moderate in Nelson. West Coast.—Moderate to fresh south-westerlies, variable skies, with occasional light showers; cool temperatures. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The day in Christchurch yesterday was fine but clovdv, with a moderate southwest wind and a maximum temperature of 60.6 At midnight the sky was clear, and there was a light north-west wind. The temperature was » degrees. The barometer, at 30.16 inches (1021.2 millibars), was rising unsteadily.
