AN EXHIBITION

Sir,—l thank Mr Hiram Hunter for his support of my exhibition, which is at 263 Kilipore street (not 163). I have merely done this work to suggest that the Government and political parties should do something on a much bigger scale, so that the technological side of co-existence can be presented in the visual form. Take sand and shingle. New Zealand uses 4,225,000 tons, the United Kingdom 55,000,000 tons and Canada 106,000,000 tons per annum. New Zealand should use 10,000,000 tons right away; and with big, self-unload-ing ships, we should send at the least 10,000,000 tons per annum to Australia, getting iron ores, bauxite and other minerals as a back freight. However, our public men have not been told yet that there is shingle in the Waimakariri river. In 20 years time we may get an “expert” from somewhere to find out if the rumour is true.— Yours, etc., L. C. WALKER. March 21, 1955.
