LONG SERVICE TO METHVEN

MR J. F. STONE, A. AND P. SECRETARY, RETIRES.

After 41 years’ service, Mr J. F. Stone (Methven) has retired from the Secretaryship of the Methven Agricultural and Pastoral Association which has appointed him its president for

the current year in recognition of his long service. This is believed to be a Dominion record for the secretaryship of any agricultural and pastoral association. Mr Stone who has a life-time association with the Methven district, has another record of 46 years as secretary first of the Methven Racing Club and then the Methven Trotting Club when a change was made from racing to trotting in the district about 25 years ago. He also has had one of the longest associations in New Zealand with the motion picture industry with which he has been connected for 42 years.
