NATIONAL PARTY COUNCIL
ADDRESS BY PRIME MINISTER
SUPPORT PLEDGED FOR ROADS BOARD
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 18. Addresses on topical subjects were given by the Prime Minister (Mr Holland) and several of his Ministerial colleagues when they attended a meeting today of the Dominion council of the National Party. An invitation had been extended to the Minister of Works (Mr W. S. Goosman) to explain the policy of the National Roads Board. A supplied report states that, after hearing him, the council unanimously carried a resolution endorsing his acceptance of the chairmanship of the board, and expressing its full support of the “vigorous policy being pursued by the board.”
The president of the party (Mr A. McKenzie, of Auckland) was granted leave of absence for six months, as he and his wife are to make a trip oversees. Mr D. O. Whyte, of Wellington, was appointed acting-president during his absence.
