The object of this lecture is to show that the Law of God and the Ten Commandments were given only to Israel who were God’s peculiar people: God himself saying “You only have I known of aU the families of the earth,” Amos 3:2, and . that the command to rest from work on the seventh day, “written and engraven in stones" “was done away” in Christ who took it out of the way, nailing it to His cross: CoL 2: 14. Some would divide God’s law given to IsraeL making one the Law of God and the other the Law of Moses, but this is only creating confusion, for Paul says that Israel only had one law—God given—see Heb. 10: 9, 19. To the ColoßSians Paul adds, “Let no man judge you in meat or in drink, or in respect of an holy dayor of the Sabbath” Col 3: 16. As a day of rest the Sabbath shadowed Christ, who said—“ Come unto Me all ye that are weary and I win give you rest.” While Christ remains away the Christian is requested by Christ to remember Him in partaking of bread and wine which was carried oat on the first day of the week (Bunday)-by the disciples.
