Chinese Threat To Nanchishan
(Rec. 11 p.m.) NEW YORK, Feb. 23. Nationalist Chinese planes bombed Communist Chinese-held Islands on Wednesday north and south of the menaced Nationalist garrison on Nanchishan Island, an American Associated Press dispatch from Taipeh reported. Signs multiplied that the outpost island—l4o miles north-west of Formosa—might have to be abandoned, said the dispatch. A Nationalist Air Force communique said that 100 planes, attacking in the face of intense anti-aircraft fire, struck from dawn to dusk at a Communiat build-up area in the Taishans, 30 miles south of Nanchishan, and at the Islet of Pelehishan, 12 miles to the north.
