The United States Ambassadordesignate to New Zealand (Mr R. C. Hendrickson) will pay a courtesy call on the Acting-Prime Minister (Mr K. J. Holyoake) in Wellington on Thursday morning. Mr Hendrickson will travel to Auckland by air tomorrow to present his credentials to the Gover-nor-General (Sir Willoughby Norrie), and will return to Wellington that night.—(P.A.) The New Zealand Inter-Church Council on Public Affairs has elected the following officers for 1955:—chairman, the Rev. G. H. Goodman; vice-chair-man, the Rev; J. S. Somerville; secre-tary-treasurer, Mr C. Gibson Young; minute secretary, the Rev. M. J. Savage.—(P.A.) Members of the Christchurch Metropolitan Milk Board, of which the late Mr H. S. S. Kyle was an original member, stood in silence as a mark of respect before starting their meeting yesterday. Mr L. J. Watson has been appointed assistant-county clerk to the Paparua County Council, and has taken up his duties.
