Captain Richard Gibbons, adjutant of the Durham Light Infantry Regiment, visited Wellington last week to meet relatives and friends whom be had not seen for more than 20 years. P. ls mother is a New Zealander, and his father was an officer of the Durham Light Infantry. He has now left on A h |s return to the Canal Zone.— (PA.) Mr R Ti’evor Smith, Assistant Engmeer-in-Chief of the Ministry of Works, will retire today after 40 years* service to take up the appointment of roads construction engineer with the Wellington City Coullil Mr Smiths colleagues in the Ministry of Works will meet him today in WeiImgton to bid him farewell.—(p.A.)
