JUVENILE STAKES AT ADDINGTON

POINTER LEADS ALL THE WAY TO "BEAT FIORD • Pointer stamped himself as a smart two-year-old by leading all the way to win the Canterbury Park Juvenile Stakes in fast time at Addington on Saturday. Bracken Brae nearly fell at the start, and. False Step, Siberia, and Guards Brigade all met trouble. Solemnity, Starwise, and Adoration were also slow to move away. Pointer began brilliantly, and passing the stands with a round to go he was traveling easily, clear of Phantasy and Girl Brigade, with Fiord trailing these three, two lengths to Lucie Manette, six lengths to Scotsmere and Starwise, three to False Step, two to Glint, and Guards Brigade several lengths further back. Pointer; Phantasy, Girl Brigade, Fiord, and. Lucie Manette raced in Indian file the half-mile, with Starwise and False Step making up ground, several lengths behind them.

Pointer was a length clear turning into the straight; and just afterward Fiord ran past Phantasy and Girl Brigade to challenge «the leader. Fblse Step was continuing his run further back. Pointer and Fiord had the race to themselves over the final furlong, Pointer carrying on very well, to hold off Rupee’s half-sister by a length and a half. Nine lengths back, False Step did well to cut Girl Brigade out of third placing a? 1 ? * head - Gtri Brigade held off * r , Pha ntasy easily enough, and Glint, which was not prominent in the did best of the- others to finish sixth.
