FINAL TRIALS FOR HORORATA

PASSCHENEDAELE AND TRUSTWORTHY FIT

Of the Hororata candidates which were , given their final trials at Riccarton yesterday, few galloped more pleasingly than Trustworthy and Passchenedaele, which , were associated over five furlongs on the plough. Princess Neptune showed to advantage in a half-mile sprint on the outside of the course proper, while others to please were Cqlphel Hqpt, Bon Soir, Adversary, and HighwaymanBoth Tracks Were Fast Trustworthy (A. Darling) w as only ® head in front of Fasschpnedatie (E. G. Low) at the end of five furlongs pn the g lough, which took Imin 3 2-ssec. The nal three furlongs were covered in 37 2-ssec. It was a good gallop on the part of both. Trustworthy will have his chance in the high-weight at Hororata, while Passchenedaele, which will be making her first appearance in the colours of Mr J. F. Kerr, has advanced in favour for the Trial Plate. Flutter (R. Blair) broke away from I’m Alone (N. Eastwood) when they began their run over five furlppgs, but I’m Alone reached the post half a length clear of his companion to record Imin 4sec. He ran his final three furlongs in 38 3-ssec. I'm Alone has failedl ba<fiy at his latest attempts, but the ability is there. Flutter is a three-year-old Robin Goodfellow— Forest Bird filly in R. P. Register’s stable. Both are engaged in the Trial Plate at Hororata. Dixie Leigh (F. H. There was nothing separating Desperado (E. G. Low) and Fulgent (A. J. Stokes) at the end of six furlongs in Imin 18sec. They covered the opening three furlongs in 37 4-ssec. They are in good order for their engagements at Riccarton. Colonel Hunt (G. Lee), pulling hard, was soon eight lengths clear of Bon Soir (J. Cowan) in their run over seven furlongs, but he was allowed to coast nearing the end, and Bon Soir got to within three lengths of him. Colonel Hunt reeled off his first half-mile in 49 4-ssec, and completed the trial in Imin 29 3-ssec. Detroit (G. W. Mein) and Sir Galahad (C. M cD D n al<l) Were together at the end of six furlongs in Imin 17 2-ssec, the first three in 39sec. Artful King (A. J. Williams) held a clear advantage over Kiaree Beau (R. A- Muir), with Yes and No (G. W. Mein) further away, at the end of six furlongs run ip Imin 16 4-ssec. The last three furlongs took’ 38 4-ssec. Kiaree Beau is a form runner for the Trial Plate at Hororata, but if there axe no scratchings he will be denjed a start. Merriment (E. G. Low) showed that she is in good order for the approaching Riccafton meeting when she sped over five furlongs in Imin 3 2-ssec, after covering the first two in 24 4-ssec. Solstice (D. F. Coombe), a favoured candidate for the Knight Memorial Handicap at Hororata, covered the last three of an easy seven furlongs in 40sec. On the Course On the outside of the course proper. Inlay (D. Finnie) and Leprechaun (N. Eastwood) Were let off with an easy six furlongs, the Fast half-mile in 54 2-ssec. After taking 41 2-ssec for the first three furlongs. Tyro (A. Eastwood) and Instinctive (W. Hanlin) ended seven furlongs in Imin ptaec. Doptor Pippin (N. Eastwood) recorded Imin 21 l-ssec for six furlongs.
