BANKS PENINSULA HORSE SHOW

SLIGHT DECREASE IN TOTAL ENTRIES

UNITY COMPETITION FOR PONY CLASSES Gate receipts totalled £9l 13s 9d, a record, compared with £7l 4s 3d last year, at the annual show of the Peninsula Horse show and Pastoral Association at Duvauchelle on Saturday. Entries as a whole were slightly lower than last year, but a decrease in the pony classes was countered by a substantial increase in the entries for flowers, fruit, and vegetables, for which, post entries were taken for the first time.

An innovation in the pony classes—in which many members of the Christchurch Pony Club competed—was the unity competition, for a trophy given by Messrs Harry, lan, and Alan Menzies. This event, in which the pony and rider were judged as a team, was won by Joanna Masefield in a field of 34. Mrs D. O. Masefield’s Locket won the hack championship, arid the hunter ribbon went to T. Masefield’s Silver Sam. The over 13.2 hands pony championship went to Miss J. Cloudesley’s Gemini, and the reserve ribbon- was won by Jacqueline Mcßride’s Little Mister.

R. C. Mason and Son won the supreme champion bull award, arid also the championship ribbons for the’best Friesian bull and cow. Results in the stock classes were:— HORSES (Judge: Mr B. G.
