New Strike Threat In Britain
(Rec. 12.15 a m.) LONDON, Jan. 21. A new strike threat developed on Britain’s nationalised railways yesterday, according to the industrial reporter of the “Daily Express.”
He said the threat came from some leaders of locomotive men who were not satisfied with the pay increases for drivers and firemen.
The rises had been accepted by the , National Union of Railwaymen, but not by the Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen. They want an extra 10s instead of the 2s 6d offered.
