The Chief of the General Staff (Major-General W. G. Gentry) will leave Paraparaumu on Sunday morning for London to attend meetings associated with the Commonwealth Prime Ministers’ Conference. In Malaya, General Gentry will visit the Ist Battalion of the Fiji Infantry Regiment at Bahu Pahat. He will leave Singapore for London on Wednesday, and return to New Zealand on February 21.—(P.A.) Air Commodore C. E. Kay has been appointed a member of the ment Superannuation Board for tne period ending March 31, 1957. Mr D. F. Sandys Wunsch has besj| appointed chairman of the AdviacCy Council of Scientific and Indusum Research for three years from ary 1 this year, according to a Gazette notice. Appointments for four -years. are those of Dr. M. M. Bums, director of Canterbury Agricultural Coftflg, and Dr. E. Marsden. Dr. G. A. Currft Vice-Chancellor of the University o* New Zealand, and Mr D. M. Rae, have been appointed for three yeaM Mr E. R. McKillop and Dr. FL U Purves lor two years, and Dr. J. Andrews and Mr E. J. Fawcett for-em year. Staff-Sergeant Joseph M. Lowe, Petone, who was recently awarded ths British Empire Medal, is the seal rf Mr J. E. Lowe and the late Mrs Lows, of River road, Rangiora.
Mr W. A. McClintock, a member of the National Council of the Surf Life Saving Association of Australia, and other sporting bodies, is revisiting Christchurch on his annual five months’ business trip to New Zealand. Mr McClintock is accompanied by his wife and two daughters. Mr H. C. Savage has been reappointed a director of the State Advances Corporation, rccoffiing to the Gazette.
